string(1290) "Alfredo R. Placencia fue ante todo, un gran poeta. A los doce años de edad abandonó su pueblo natal para realizar estudios en el Seminario Conciliar de Guadalajara que concluyó en 1899. A partir de ahí, su vida transcurrió por diversos pueblos de Jalisco y Zacatecas, incluyo, ya en el otoño de su vida, fue castigado con el destierro a Estados Unidos y El Salvador. Sufrió la muerte de toda la familia cercana en un dilatado lapso de tiempo: desde su padre en 1896, hasta su hermana Cristina, en 1918.
Entre 1910 y 1912 fue párroco de Tamalcapulín, Jalisco, que a decir de Ernesto Flores, fue uno de los pueblos que más amó, y que actualmente está en riesgo de desaparecer inundado, en aras de mitigar el insaciable sed de alguna megápolis lejana que no supo cuidar sus recursos.
En la amplia y notable obra poética del padre Plascencia, hay referencias a Temalcapulín. En éstas páginas se presentan los seis poemas en los que la población, Temaca, como es conocida y nombrada por los alteños, forma parte del título, además de ser protagonista principal, presentadas por el también poeta, Hugo Gutiérrez Vega y Cándido González Pérez. Además se ofrecen un pequeño álbum fotográfico que testimonia la belleza y personalidad de población.
